How to upgrade DotNetNuke to 4.8.4
 In previous tutorials, i have mentioned about:
You may want to take advantage of latest version of DotNetNuke framework. Which is currently DotNetNuke 4.8.4 (as for August 9, 2008) Currently DotNetNuke 4.8.4 fixes several security issues and it is strongly recommend to upgrade to this release.
In this tutorial, i am going to cover all required steps for upgrading dotnetnuke instances. This tutorial will have different methods compared to other tutorials, as we might have permission problems if default instructions would followed. We will also take a look at other tutorials for maximum success level. I strongly recommend read first before applying suggestions, once you complete reading at least once, you can start applying my instructions. This helps you to keep your website safe from critical issues.

How to move DotNetNuke installation to root path
 In this tutorial, i am going to cover how to move your auto-installed DotNetNuke portal to root path of your hosting account.
You may need to download a FTP client in order to transfer content between locations. I strongly suggest Mozilla Filezilla as a free ftp client.

In this tutorial, i am going to present how to setup your new Windows Hosting Account.
Godaddy currently provides three types of Windows Hosting accounts. Those are:
- Economy Hosting
- Deluxe Hosting
- Premium Hosting
For a new DotNetNuke user, purchasing a Deluxe Hosting package would be a good start.
Some users asking about why not Economy Hosting package? Because, you may encounter issues with MS Ajax under Economy hosting package. Also it does not let you host multiple websites under a single windows hosting account.
Remember that our goal is;
- Hosting DotNetNuke at root level
- Hosting Multiple Websites using single DotNetNuke Instance

How to install DotNetNuke 4.7 via Metropolis
In this tutorial, i am going to cover installing DotNetNuke 4.7 with auto-install feature of Godaddy Metropolis. Current offical release of DNN is 4.8 but Godaddy provides 4.7 while i prepared this tutorial. So you may want to upgrade your portal after installing DotNetNuke 4.7. I will cover this steps with another tutorial.
You should have at least following in order to install DNN via Metropolis
- Godaddy Deluxe Windows Plan or Premium Windows Plan subscription.
- Unique Top Level Domain Name (e.g www.mywebsite.com)
- Empty MSSQL 2005 Database (Deluxe plan comes up with two empty databases, Premium Plan has three MSSQL 2005 databases)

 It's strongly recommended that reading my first article prior to reading this article and applying instructions. Please read the following article and follow the instructions to configure your DotNetNuke to create multiple parent and child portals and use your existing domain names with these multiple portals.
Article 1: How to Install DotNetNuke 4.9 to Godaddy Root (Manual Installation)
After applying instructions on first article, we can continue with next steps to achieve the main goal of this article.
First of all you must install DotNetNuke 4.9 release to root level of your hosting account in order to use multiple domains for different portals based on same host portal.
Godaddy offically does not support root level installations. See offical knowledge base article here.
Can i install a DotNetNuke to my root folder?
They say that: No, but you can create a meta redirect tag in your index file to forward site visitors to the correct folder.
Well it's time to correct their knowledge. You can install DotNetNuke 4.9 at root directory as we covered on first article. Lets start business...
Important Note: Some steps of this article may contain same items like you read in previous steps, i applied this method to make writting of tutorial easy. Thank you for your understanding. Also you should be familiar with Godaddy Hosting Center, FTP Management and DotNetNuke management.

After reading this article, you will be able to install DotNetNuke 4.9 release (currently latest DNN release available) application to root directory under of your Godaddy hosted environment. Before go on reading, make sure that you are using Godaddy (Deluxe or Premium) Windows plans.
